Job Title: Assessor Technician
Salary: $ 28.57 per hour; $51,997/year
Hours: 35/week

Position Summary:
The Assessor Technician provides administrative and technical support to ensure uniform and equitable property valuations for real estate, personal property, and motor vehicles for taxation purposes. The ability and confidence in conducting property inspections for assessment purposes. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, customer-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities in a municipal office environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide assistance and information to residents via phone, email, and in-person inquiries
- Perform general office duties including filing, record maintenance, and data entry
- Process and input Personal Property Declarations for Grand List preparation
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of the Motor Vehicle Grand List, including additions, credits, and adjustments
- Maintain and input residential building permits, including spreadsheets and inspections
- Assist with administration of exemption and rebate programs, including:
- Homeowners
- Veterans and Disabled Veterans
- Additional Veterans
- Totally Disabled Exemptions
- Rental Rebate Program
- Homeowners
- Inspect handicapped accessible vehicles to apply applicable exemptions
- Assist with residential property inspections as needed
- Perform related duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain complex records and process large volumes of documentation accurately
- Ability to conduct residential property inspections within the Town
- Proficiency with computers and data entry
- Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor
- Ability to apply sound office administrative practices
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior municipal, assessor’s office, or administrative experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to type accurately and work with a high degree of precision
